Momofuku Noodle Bar

Mamma-say Mamma-sah Momofuku!

I had high expectations for this meal as Momofuko has always been hyped up to me by friends who are always saying; "Go there and have the shrimp or pork buns, they are to die!"  We came and I put our name on the list, no reservations at this place unless you want to attend their fried chicken lunch/dinner that is by reservation only.  We waited for about 45 minutes and it was well worth it.  This meal was so flavorful and had so much going on.  The menu changes everyday and the food is extremely fresh and made with care.   Just a little heads up that this is definitely a spot for a casual meal with friends.  It's communal seating and it can get kind of loud when the place is hopping.

Heirloom Tomato Salad with ricotta, avocado, shiso $12

Charred Octopus with pearl onion, mole, zucchini flower $15

Shrimp buns with spicy mayo, pickled shallots, and iceberg $12

Pork buns with hoisin, scallion and cucumber $10

Brussel sprouts with spatzle, sausage and mustard $10

Miso Ramen with smoked chicken, swiss chard and soy egg $14

Ginger scallion noodles with shrimp, pickled shiitakes, cucumber and cabbage $16

Soft serve ice cream lemon and ricotta twist $5

The shrimp and pork buns were really delicious, although I have to say that the pork buns aren't for everyone.  The pork has about an inch of crispy fat attached to it that is very rich and heavy.  I'm a real meat eater and found it fantastic, however, it can be overwhelming for some.
